ZULU CLASSES - JOHANNESBURG

Need an excellent teacher who will get you talking Zulu almost immediately?

Contact Heidi Wrogemann on 082 332 7154, e-mail heidi.wrog@yahoo.co.uk.

Heidi Wrogemann completed her four year HDip Ed in 1985 at the Johannesburg College of Education. Her majors were English and Zulu. She then went on to complete a BA at Unisa, majoring in Communication Science and Psychology.

She has taught Zulu at prep school level for 18 years, of which 12 were at two prestigious private schools in Gauteng. She retired from teaching in 2004 to spend more time with her growing family. She now teaches adults beginner Zulu as she has recognised that there is a need for cross cultural communication both within the workplace and the home.

Heidi's beginner Zulu course is made up of about 25, one hour sessions. You meet once a week for a period of three months.

The course is aimed at individuals who have had little or no previous exposure to the language.

It is structured around everyday situations and will provide the learner with many opportunities to speak. Learners are encouraged to be actively involved in the learning process through listening, speaking, reading and writing. The main emphasis, however, is speech.

As Nelson Mandela once said "If you talk to a man in a language that he understands, it goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart".

Materials

Each learner will receive a sturdy concertina file to house all course materials. The materials consist of a multimedia package as well as worksheets to reinforce work covered in class. The multimedia package is a product of African Voices and is made up of an interactive CD-ROM and an audio CD with everyday phrases.

Each learner also receives vocab cards to further enhance their learning.
